Moodboard: Small rose by Wiebren

It is a moody Monday today, so time for a new moodboard! Today we will show you how you can combine our blue-green vase with a raw but colourful (vintage) interior. We also give some tips on colour, texture and material combinations.

This vase is carved by hand, with an intricate pattern. It is nice to combine the vase with other patterned materials, for instance with carved wood (1) or wood with the bark still on it. The combination with plants with a particular pattern is also great! (2). A rough wall in subtle, powder colours (5) also make a strong combination. 

To make a contrast with the carved pattern you can combine this vase with smooth polished metals like brass, aluminium or copper. It looks great when these metals are frosted (3). 

The blue-green of the vase is an intense hue, which goes well with a lot of colours. Here we show you how lovely it is in combination with powder pink (4), emerald green, wood brown and a dash of golden yellow. 

With this moodboard we will show you how our vase combines great with a vintage inspired colourful interior. Think pink! For instance in the entrance hall (1) pink is a great colour to use, it will make you smile every time you enter your home! In combination with white walls, some yellow, orange & copper accents and some light grey it give a very fresh feel to your room. You can also choose for a more powdery pink hue (3) which gives a more classical feeling. This is also great with grey and white and gets stronger if you combine different pink hues with each other (ton-sur-ton)

You can also choose to combine the pink with grey-blue and old leather or wood. This combination of dark materials & light colours is very strong! (2). If you love wood, you can use it on your walls as well, layered in a pattern it looks so awesome! (5). Use plants to liven up your interior, big ones with distinctive leaves make a great eye catcher (4) in your interior. Combined with wood, blues & white it makes a fresh interior.

Milan Design week 2016

Last week we were in Milan, during the Salone del Mobile. This is one of the most important furniture fairs and we were very proud to be presenting our work there! We joined the Dutch presentation 'Masterly - the Dutch in Milano'. This presentation, organized by Nicole Uniquole, was located in a beautiful palazzo in the center of Milano. All the products presented were of Dutch origin and most of them had a link with craftsmanship or were handmade. This was the first time in 40 years palazzo Francesco Turati was open for the public so a lot of people wanted to see the stunning old rooms. Sometimes there were 3 lines, one outside, one in the courtyard (filled with Dutch tulips) and one before these old rooms! For those who could not visit, we will show you what the presentation looked like below.

Our picture was in 'la Repubblica' one of the biggest newspapers in Italy!

 

There were 125 designers and companies presenting their work in this presentation, ranging from furniture, jewellery, lighting, textile design, wallpaper, ceramics, glassware and even bikes. We will show you some other lovely work below.

We had some time to explore other exhibitions as well. During the Salone de Mobile there are loads of presentations in unexpected locations in town. In some areas they are grouped together (like in Ventura Lambrate, Zona Tortona), some are in very special locations somewhere hidden in the city. The fun thing is that some of them are only open for public during this week. Some presentations are very big and almost overwhelming, some are very small but evenly impressive. We will show you some of our highlights below.

We had a very inspirational week! We met loads of lovely people and saw amazing things (in those few hours we had left to see things our selves) Hopefully you have enjoyed our short report as well! Hope to be back next year!

Moodboard: Large wicked light

Today we want to show you how you could fit in our lamp 'Large wicked light by Esmé' in your own interior. This great lamp is totally plaited by hand by our superskilled craftswoman Esmé Hofman. She is very good in the delicate wickerwork which we used in our lamp to get such awesome patterns and thus shades. Have a look at it first:

This is our 'official photo', showing the lamp in a more classical setting (don't you just love the green walls? We do!) But the large wicked light also fits in great in a modern interior and we will show you how to combine and style it. 

Let's first talk about colours and materials to combine the large wicked light with. Our lamp is totally made out of willow, so it's all natural. Therefor it combines great with other natural materials like wood (1), copper (2), leather and earthenware. Since the colour of the material is also very natural, it mixes very good with all sorts of colours... we absolutely love the combination with old pink (3) or greyish green. Makes it quite stylish and modern! 

Since the lamp has fanciful patterns in it, it is a nice detail to repeat these patterns in your interior, for instance with a lovely cupboard as shown below (1). Or combine the lamp with plants (4) with whimsical leaves and different shades. This makes your interior lively and personal!

Colours & materials which mix great with the large wicked light

Let us now show you in what kind of interiors our large wicked light looks great. The combination of our lamp with a Scandinavian styled interior is just meant to be! Think loads of white, some pops of colour and an extended use of natural materials. But you can spice that up: if you add some more colour to that, for instance a great pink wall (1) and mix up your accessories and materials it becomes a little edgier, which still fits great with our lamp. To make it a little rougher you can leave a wall untreated (2) or use some concrete, for instance on your floor or in your kitchen design.

The large wicked light also fits in marvelous in a botanical & green interior! Gather all your plants, find some botanical posters or get started with your own herbarium and later frame your results! (3). On intensely coloured walls (4) the wicked light really pops out! And since its colour is so natural, it combines with almost every shade you can think of!

Photoshoot - a peek behind the scenes

Het is je vast niet ontgaan; we hebben laatst een fotoshoot gedaan met onze producten. We wilden graag onze vazen en lampen in een interieur setting laten zien, dat hadden we namelijk nog niet op onze huidige foto's. En we hebben onlangs een nieuw lampje toegevoegd aan onze collectie: 'small wicked light by esmé. Die verdiende ook zeker een mooie foto!

Deze fotoshoot heeft heel wat voorbereiding gekost. Want wat voor een setting maak je dan? Wat voor een kleuren en attributen gaan we gebruiken? Waar gaan we het doen? Al dat soort vragen. Ik denk dat de voorbereiding al ergens in de zomer is gestart, met de eerste ideeën verzamelen en schetsen maken!

Vorige maand was het dan zover: we konden gaan klussen, want het prachtige pand in Meppel was beschikbaar. We hebben diverse achtergronden gemaakt, van grote platen. Allemaal in een prachtige kleur geverfd natuurlijk! Daarna moesten een rondje rijden om alle afgesproken attributen te verzamelen. De avond van te voren hebben we alles in elkaar gezet. We zijn die dag de hele dag bezig geweest, maar het resultaat is echt geweldig! Met deze foto's kunnen we weer een hele tijd vooruit!
